Own Mythology

Own Norse Mythology
Once there was nothing, then something called Ragnarok. That then started everything in the world. There was once a giant named Ymir which created the world, once it was done.

After he was done making peoples kingdoms he then decided to create gods so they could rule the Asgard. He created Odin and Frigga. They then birthed Thor, Baldur and Tyr. Odin then became the all father. Thor became the god of thunder, Baldur became the god of purity, Tyr became the god of war. Odin also had an adopted son called Loki. Loki was not like any other kid, he was treated differently because his parents weren’t the same as the other children. But, his adopted mother Frigga, loved him and taught him magic, and that's how Loki became the god of mischief.

Out of Odin and Frigga’s children, Thor was the most loved because he was the real son of Odin. Thor was destined to become King of Asgard after Odin gets too old to rule Asgard. This made Loki very angry so he decided to pull some pranks on his brother Thor. Baldur knew about these plans but decided to stay out of the controversy between his brothers. Thor loved snakes so Loki decided to transform himself into a snake, once Thor saw the snake he went to play with it. But, as soon as Thor went to touch it Loki turned back into a human and stabbed Thor in the leg. After this had happened, Thor should’ve been injured for a few weeks but due to his mother's magic, it only took him a couple of days to be fully healed again.

Odin and Frigga didn’t know that Loki was pulling these pranks on Thor. But, Baldur decided to tell their parents about what was happening. Odin was furious at Loki for doing this to his favourite child. So, Odin punished Loki for what he was doing. Loki’s punishment was that he was bound in a dark cave with a very venomous snake placed above him. The venom from the snake dripped down onto Loki’s face. But, Loki was allowed to have his wife Sigyn in the cave with him, she would hold a bowl over his head so the venom doesn’t drop onto his face. But, one time she had to tip the venom out. But, a drop of venom hit Loki’s face and he screamed so loud that Odin could hear it. Once this had happened Loki’s hatred grew for the gods.

Once Loki got free of his bounds, he went to the giants to see if they would help him kill the gods of Asgard. The giants happily agreed to Loki’s plans. After a few hours of traveling through realms they finally got back to Asgard. They stormed Asgard killing everyone in sight. Leaving a trail of bodies behind them, Loki went straight to the palace so he could personally kill Odin, Thor and Baldur. He ended up killing Baldur because he was asleep. Thor barely escaped with his life. But, once Loki got to Odin. Odin was sitting in a chair waiting for Loki, Loki ended up killing him because all of the hatred that built up because of the venom from the snake. Frigga and Thor managed to get away.

Thor and Frigga went to Earth so they could start a life there so Loki couldn’t find them. Frigga changed their appearance so Loki wouldn’t recognize them. As a result of this, Loki is now the god of Asgard and the All father...

Critical Literacy - Adverts

Today in English we have been learning about adverts that show people drinking. In the first video we watched it showed a group of white males going to a bar and one of the males was supposed to be the sober driver. But, he sneaked away to drink and when it came to driving home, he crashed and killed the passenger in the car. This is stereotyping that young white males are childish and go drink when they shouldn't. In the second video it shows us about Maori and PI (Pacific Islands) drinking so the main character thinks about if he should say something that could save his friends life, so he does speak up and makes his friend not drink while being drunk. This is stereotyping that Maori and PI drink a lot. In the third video it shows us that an older Maori or PI male drinks and drinks

Understand the importance of setting to a film

Understand how symbols can be used to add meaning to a film

This weeks work is about the symbols

The symbol I have chosen is the three finger salute that is used to represent Hope & Rebellion.
I am learning: about symbolism in the Hunger Games
This shows my learning by: I have created a paragraph about symbolism.
I am wondering: how the directors decided on what symbols to use that would make the movie unique.

The three finger salute.
Image result for three finger salute hunger games

In the Hunger Games symbols are used to create effect and make people engage to find more hidden symbols. The three finger salute is used to show hope and rebellion, which is between the capital and the districts. In this photo that i have used it shows us that Katniss is doing the three finger salute which then makes District 11 angry because it is done after Rue's death in the arena. After District 11 sees Katniss do this, they start a riot and throw baskets of rice and other things towards the peacekeepers (The capitals soldiers). This salute makes us feel sorry for District 11 because they have lost one of their tributes (Rue). This scene also makes us sorry for what has happened to Rue's family and friends. This shows us that Katniss had made a friend but then that friends died. Which motivates Katniss to win even more.

New vs Old Technology

I have created this slideshow to show the difference that we use now vs back in the day. I think that nowadays it is a lot easier to get things done because of the technology that we have at hand. This is because technology has improved the way we help treat people if they are sick. Washing machines are useful so we can wash our clothing. Phones help us keep in contact of people, cars help us getting around when we need to buy things and computers to help us search up things when we are unsure about things. These three examples help us in our everyday life and we have adapted to using these.
