Rendering Internal

Kayne
DVC

AS91066

Intro: At the start of the year we had to design our own drink bottle with a filter, from here we were then given the brief to show the different designs.

What I like: I like that I choose to put a bit of a cut out in the middle of the bottle to make a spot to put your hand.
What I dislike: Realistic aspects and effort needed.

Sexxxy Analysis

Analysis 1:
How a close-up shot is used in fast in the furious close up is ideas when an actor is giving an expression or its just two people talking face to face. this makes us feel what they are feeling and it sets the mood example in fast 7 the rock knowen as hob and shaw has there fight is close up to show what is happening This aspect can be compared to a long shot because they both have different meanings for different scenes.

Analysis 2:
In Jumanji its shown in all senses when the kids play the board game it shows what they feel and what's happening and it shows what's around them it makes us feel like we are one of the players playing since we're experiencing what's happening.

Analysis 3:
litmus pill scene
This is a short film of the clip when this guy has a pill and then walk through some stairs its close up when he's walking up the and then it goes to a medium close up to show who he's talking to while he's talking to the girl he's doing voice over explaining what's happening while the girl is talking.

Analysis 4:
Litmus side effects
the start of the video it shows that he is highly intoxicated while standing on a rock you can tell he is because he's swerving side to side and he's saying words when he gits the water you can tell he's in trouble since he's just laying there.

Flim Study Group Work English

My SEXXXY Analysis

Analysis 1:
How a close-up shot is used well in ghost chips. For example, when he is thinking of all the stuff that could happen after George dies. This makes us understand all the possibilities that could happen if George die. The purpose of this is to not let your friends or family drive drunk. Combined with the close-ups and the point of thought shot. Shows the effects of drunk driving. This aspect can be compared to a long shot because they both have different meanings for different scenes.

Analysis 2:
In Spoof meth mid-close-ups are used effectively to show the person speaking and showing the product. For example you see this within the first few seconds of the video, when he is introducing the product (E Meth). This makes the audience think that the E meth is better for you since it’s liquid. The director did this to encourage people to buy it since it’s supposedly healthier. The mid-close-up and the way the actors speak are used to sell the product better. This reminds me of some joker movie posters where you can see joker’s shoulders and his head.

Understanding Film theory

What is Film theory?
Film Theory is a way of breaking down movies and television
they break films and television down so they can get more meaning out of it and do more work instead of watching the whole film or movie.

Film theorists use these

  • Type of film
  • shots
  • angles
  • lighting
  • color
  • sound
  • editing
  • mise en scene
How to read a film?
Some tips
Make sure your paying attention
you’re looking for choices made by the director, cinematographer, and editor that clue you into the emotional response.

What is realism
Realism is when A movie or film is real and showing the unfiltered world

Some characteristics
Nonprofessional actors so nobody who's a pro at acting
No special effects so just everything that is happening
Location and the props are real
Minimal editing so Not everything is edited like movies
Natural lighting so the lighting that is already there
Make it look documentary

Classical
Classical film still wants to emphasize authentic moments between real people but with the manipulation of its creative production

Some characteristics
Professional actors
Minimal effects
Use a studio
editing use for time lapse
lighting used to make a mood

Formalism
Formalism focuses on the Director bringing the audience an altered reality that they’ve created
Some characteristics
  • Professional actors
  • Relies heavily on special effects
  • Editing speeds up or slows downtime
  • Lighting and sound create exaggerations
  • Breaks the illusion of reality
there are a lot of shots used in movies/films here are some
Long shot
mid-close-up
wide shot
pov/ point of view
extreme close up and many more

What are angles?
angles show what the actor is feeling
there are 4 main angles such as
eye level
high angle
low angle
oblique angle

Lighting
the lighting sets the mood and it goes with each scene like a horror movie when its pitch black that's the lighting it sets the tone

This should hopefully teach you some ideas about understanding film theory and more about what is used in a film or movie

Contrast

Points to discuss:

What are the ways directors can contrast in a film?
The director can have scenes that are black and white and mostly dim and scenes that are bright and colorful

What is contrasted in Spike Jonze’s ad?
It was showing the mood of someone who is sad and showing the mood when someone is happy or excited

Why did he contrast these things?
To show how someone is when they are around strangers compared to when they are at home and feel free to do anything they want.
